How to Snip on Mac
Using Snipping Tool to Capture a Screen Shot
The Snipping Tool allows you to capture portions of your screen using four methods and then save these snips as a JPG, GIF, PNG, or MHT file. The capture methods that can be used to take snips are free-form, rectangular, window, and full-screen.
Scroll down the keyboard screen and turn on the switch to Use The PrtScn Button to open screen snipping. To take a screenshot with Snip & Sketch, just press PrtScn.
Press the Windows key + Shift + S. The screenshot will be copied to the clipboard, which you can paste into another program. (This shortcut only works if you have the latest version of Windows 10 installed, called the Windows 10 Creators Update.)
The easiest way to get to the Snipping Tool is by pressing Windows Key-Shift-S. That keyboard shortcut gives you a choice to take a screenshot using a rectangular selection, freehand selection, window, or full-screen capture (that's the order of the icons you choose from in the image above).
Mac devices also feature their own snipping tool. This versatile and user-friendly snipping tool lets Mac users capture a variety of screenshots and/or screen recordings. Using the snipping tool for Mac is easy as pressing and holding the following combination of keys: Shift+Command+5.
There are two main types: straight-pattern and duckbill-pattern. Straight-pattern are best for straight cuts, but can handle gentle curves. Duckbill-pattern snips, also known as trojan-pattern snips, have blades that taper down from the pivot to the tip of the blades.
Use snips for cutting soft metal only. Hard or hardened metal should be cut with cutting tools designed for that purpose. Use ordinary hand pressure for cutting. If extra force is needed, use a larger tool.
To use the Snipping Tool when you have a mouse and a keyboard: Press Windows logo key + Shift + S. The desktop will darken while you select an area for your screenshot. Rectangular mode is selected by default.
The Snipping Tool is a straightforward app. You can take screenshots on Windows 11 through the app or shortcut. In addition, the app includes various settings you can configure, including the ability to use the Print screen button instead of the Windows key + Shift + S shortcut.
Creating a photo snip in your iOS device becomes easy with Photo Snip app. Instead of the standard rectangle crop that is available in standard app, Photo Snip app allows you to select irregular shape snipping with freehand snipping tool.
