To charge your case via wired connection, plug the Lightning cable that came with your AirPods into the Lightning connector on your case. You can use a USB-C to Lightning Cable or a USB to Lightning Cable. Then plug the other end of the cable into a USB charger or port.
To charge the case, close the lid, then do one of the following:
Thankfully, Apple makes it easy to check if your AirPods are charging. All AirPods cases come with a built-in status light (found on the front or inside of the case, depending on which model you have). If the status light is amber when AirPods are in the case, that means the case is wirelessly charging both earbuds.

Throughout the day, find small intervals when you are not listening to music or talking using your AirPods to put them back into the case to recharge for between 10-30 minutes. If you only listen to your AirPods for a few hours a day, you can get away with charging the case every 2 to 3 days.

In theory, the charging case should only lose noticeable amounts of charge when the AirPods are low on battery and recharging within the case, and when users flip the pack open to check battery levels or otherwise activate Bluetooth with a connected Apple device.
How to clean your dirty AirPods Pro and charging case
If you use the Grid view on your watch, place your finger on the grid and move it around until you see the app icon. Tap to open. If you use the List view on your Watch, scroll up or down until you find the app and tap to open it. Your phone's battery percentage will display on your Apple Watch.
With a third-party lightning cable (not even MFi certified) from Amazon, the Airpods case charges fine from both computer USB and electrical outlets.
