When you're wearing your AirPods or compatible Beats headphones, Siri can announce incoming notifications from apps such as Messages and Reminders, and from supported third-party apps.
On iPhone: Settings > Control Center > tap - next to Announce Messages with Siri. Swipe up on Apple Watch and tap the Announce Messages with Siri icon to disable. The Announce Messages with Siri feature will read incoming text messages from your iPhone or Apple watch automatically.

How to set up Siri to read your texts through your AirPods
If you're using a pair of Sony wireless earbuds, such as the WF-1000XM3 or the WF-1000XM4, you can get your device to read your notifications for you on either iOS or Android.
