Type a comma, followed by a space, after the phone number. Type "ext." followed by a space and then the extension number. For example: XXX-XXX-XXXX, ext. 766.

Making phone calls to extensions is easy. iPhone users can also easily add an extension to their contacts list. All you need to do is go to the contact app, find the particular contact phone number, click edit, tap the plus icon and then enter the extension number.
