Set up Touch ID on iPad
Here's how to turn off Touch ID on your Mac: From the Apple menu, select System Preferences. Click Touch ID, as shown below. Deselect all of the checkboxes to disable Touch ID on your Mac, as shown below.
Click "Biometric Devices" under "Device Manager." Right-click "Validity fingerprint sensor" and choose "Disable" from the menu.
First introduced in 2013, Touch ID is built into the Home buttons of the iPhone 5s through iPhone 8 and 8 Plus, the iPad mini 3 and later, the iPad Air 2 and later, 2017 and 2018 iPad models, and the 2015 through 2017 iPad Pro. Touch ID is also present on recent MacBook Pro and MacBook Air models.
While Apple's new keyboard only comes with the colourful new iMacs, its Touch ID sensor won't work with the new M1-equipped iPad Pro. That means that the only way to use biometric authentication with an iPad Pro is with Face ID.
On an iPad with a Home button, or on iPad Air (4th generation and later) or iPad mini (6th generation), use Touch ID to securely and conveniently unlock iPad, authorize purchases and payments, and sign in to many third-party apps. To use Touch ID, you must set a passcode on your iPad.

To use Touch ID, you need to turn on the lock code. Tap Settings. Tap Touch ID & Passcode. Tap Add a Fingerprint and follow the instructions on the screen to add your fingerprint.
