How to Cut and Paste Using Keyboard Shortcuts
Highlight the text you want to copy using your mouse or trackpad.
Press Command-X. Or choose Edit > Cut from the menu bar. Or Control-click (or right-click) the item you selected, then choose Cut from the shortcut menu.

So a single action to copy brings the item to your clipboard (think of it as picking the item from your container).
If we are cutting(moving) within a same disk, then it will be faster than copying because only the file path is modified, actual data is on the disk. If the data is copied from one disk to another, it will be relatively faster than cutting because it is doing only COPY operation.
