Open System Preferences (Apple menu > System Preferences). Click Bluetooth. Put the PS4 controller in Discovery Mode by holding down the PlayStation button and Share button at the same time. The light on the front of the controller will flash quickly, and Wireless Controller will appear in the Bluetooth window.

General Fixes When Your PS4 Controller Isn't Working
The first time you use a controller, you'll need to pair it with your PS4™ system. Up to four controllers can be used at the same time. When you press the PS button, the light bar will glow in a uniquely assigned color. The color that is assigned depends on the order in which each user presses the PS button.

Controller works fine but doesn't vibrate when gaming. This is a less gaming experience. In iPad settings (General -> Gamecontroll) it's possible to activate generall “Haptic feedback” or activitate this for only compatible games. It is even possible to test Hapticfeedback, and this works!
Head to Settings > Devices > Bluetooth Devices and select the DualShock 4 entry—it's the one that does not have a green light next to it. On the resulting menu, press the Options button on your controller and choose Forget Device. This will cause your PS4 to remove it from memory so you have to re-pair it again.
To do this, turn off your console and controller. Then, using a paperclip or something similar, push the button located inside the small hole on the back of your controller next to the L2 button and keep it pressed for about five seconds. Turn your PS4 back on, then press the PS button on your controller.
