All replies. Once it has been set up, the Activity app on Apple Watch runs automatically in the background, estimating results including all calories burned, including during general daily wear and any workouts.
For example, in an 1 hour yoga class at ChromaYoga, we burned 333 active calories, 446 total calories with an average heart rate BPM reading of 111. Apple Watch also saves the location this took place using the onboard GPS, and adds it to the Apple Health app's calendar. But that's about it.
WHOOP takes all the collected heart-rate data and puts it toward a "strain" score for the day, which is essentially a measure of how hard you worked on a scale from 1 to 21.
